Know who packed every order

One tap at the packing bench puts the packer’s name onto the order in Shopify.

When an order goes out wrong, most warehouses have no way of knowing who packed it. Nobody wrote it down, and by Friday nobody remembers.

PackedBy runs on any device at the bench: a tablet, a phone, an old laptop. Staff tap their name, take an order, and carry on. No logins, no training, nothing to learn. Their name is tagged onto the order in Shopify, so months later you can search one order number and have an answer in seconds.

More on the problem itself: how to find out who packed an order, and why Shopify’s own record cannot tell you.

How it works

  1. 1

Add the people who pack. Type their names, once. They never sign in to anything.

  2. 2

Open the link on a device at the bench. It shows the orders waiting, oldest first.

  3. 3

Tap a name, tap an order. That is the whole interaction, and it takes about a second.

What you get

It never sees your customers

PackedBy does not request or store customer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, phone numbers, payment details, product names or prices. It asks Shopify for an order number, a few timestamps, and a count of items that need a box.

That is a design constraint rather than a policy promise: the data is not held anywhere to be lost, sold, or handed over. Read the privacy policy.

It is on the Shopify App Store

Free for the first 50 orders a month, with a seven day trial on every paid plan.
